Beginner Soap Making Class Information: Learn how to make your own hand made soap using the cold process method. Janet Stevens, owner of Natural Farm Soap Co., will walk you step-by-step through the process. In this basic level soap making class you will discover how to make soap from a traditional oil blend and a lye solution. Participants will learn how to work safely with soap making ingredients to create naturally luxurious handcrafted soap for your family and friends.
The 90-minute class includes all the ingredients to make a one-pound batch of soap (about four bars.) The interactive class includes a reusable soap mold to take home, recipe, soap colorant, 1 oz fragrance of your choice from pre-selected scents, printed instruction booklet and additional resources for you to keep. The class will touch on the science behind soap making, properties of different oils, and tips and tricks for making your favorite soap at home.
We'll discuss how to use soap calculators to formulate your own recipes and will talk about different oils you can use to create your own made-from scratch soap at home.
The topics of lye safety, oil choices, fragrances, super fatting, natural additives, molding and curing will be covered.
